Change is a big factor in fantasy football - here are the TE's who have new opportunities, both positive and negative.
It is important to be in the know on the comings and goings of fantasy relevant players. This offseason saw much movement in this regard, including some heavy hitters. In our continuing series, we have broken down players with new addresses by position, and what effect this change may have on their fantasy outlook. I now present the tight ends.
Martellus Bennett: Giants to Bears.
Signed by Chicago to provide a viable alternative to Brandon Marshall in passing game. This could be a decent fit, if Bennett can keep it together.
Dallas Clark: Buccaneers to Ravens.
Veteran tight end recently signed by injury ravaged Baltimore. Will be involved immediately, as Raven tight ends are dropping left and right. May still have some gas in the tank, but production will still be limited.
Jared Cook: Titans to Rams.
Moved to St.Louis with nice contract as unquestioned starter. Has always been somewhat of a disappointment in fantasy circles, but potential is there. Ram offense is a work in progress, and quite young, but Cook should be busy.
Tom Crabtree: Packers to Bucs.
An afterthought in Green Bay; should be 2nd tight end in Tampa. Will see many more opportunities here, but upside is limited.
Anthony Fasano: Dolphins to Chiefs.
Marginal starter moves to Kansas City. Wasn’t going to be much use, but now with the season-ending injury to Tony Moeaki in front of him, he may just produce some value. Probably not a starter for you, though.
Dustin Keller: Jets to Dolphins.
Was going to be the starter in Miami, but shredded his knee in preseason. He’s done for the year, and will have a long road to have a chance to resume his career.
Brandon Myers: Raiders to Giants.
Coming off breakout season in Oakland, Myers moves to New York. Should fare well in prolific offense, although Eli does have numerous options, so production will slide some.
John Phillips: Cowboys to Chargers.
Will back up Antonio Gates in San Diego. Gates has not played a full season since 2009, so he could potentially see some time. Not on fantasy radar, but in better situation than Dallas.
Visanthe Shiancoe: Patriots to Ravens.
The former Giant and Viking played sparingly in New England in 2012, not recording a single catch. However, with Dennis Pitta out for the year, and Ed Dickson banged up, he could see significant time, at least initially.
Delanie Walker: 49ers to Titans.
Will now start in Tennessee. Always solid, and will now have an opportunity to improve production based on increased volume.
Benjamin Watson: Browns to Saints.
Veteran tight end will caddy for the beastly Jimmy Graham. Saints offense is still loaded, and Brees enjoys spreading the wealth, but there will not be much left over.
Kellen Winslow: Patriots to Jets.
Gets another chance in New York after playing in only one game for Patriots in 2012. Jets lack weapons in passing game, so could see some targets if healthy.
