Jonathan Stewart could go on the PUP list to start the season which would mean that he misses the first six games of the season.

Fantasy take: This is good news for DeAngelo Williams owners. Williams had been going in the 7th or 8th rounds but with this news that ADP likely jumps up into the 6th. He was already getting all of the first team reps and this should solidify his fantasy value firmly in the low end RB2 range. A bargain where he is currently going in drafts.Mike Tolbert also becomes a legitimate late round flyer.

The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced that Michael Vick will be their starting quarterback entering the regular season.

Fantasy take: We kind of already knew this would happen so it’s not huge news, but for fantasy purposes it gives us clarity on the situation. In the second preseason game with Vick under center the Eagles ran a play every 18 seconds. That is an astonishingly fast rate. I’ve moved Michael Vick up my rankings to QB16 from QB29 with the news. He makes a fantastic high ceiling QB2 to pair with your starter and is currently coming off the board in the late 9th - 10th rounds.

Jermichael Finley is getting rave reviews in Packers training camp. Coach Mike McCarthy has said that Finley has had the best training camp of his career.

Fantasy take: Fantasy owners have been teased before by Jermichael Finley, but this is the year he could he finally put it all together. With Greg Jennings gone and Jordy Nelson’s status for week 1 up in the air after minor surgery to repair nerve damage in his knee, Finley could be the beneficiary of those extra targets. This is also a contract year for Finley and he knows that his career with the Packers is over if he doesn’t step it up this season. If you wait on tight end (which you should if you don’t get Graham or Gronk), Finley is one of my favorite targets at the position in the 8th round or later.

Perhaps the biggest NFL news of the day is Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller getting a six game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse program. This is a HUGE blow to a defense that lost it’s second best pass rusher (Elvis Dumervil) in free agency after a snafu with getting his contract in on time and have now lost their best player on defense. Miller is one of the best 3-5 defensive players in the whole league and this suspension will definitely affect what they can do on defense. Luckily for the Broncos they have one of the easiest schedules in the league so they should be fine in terms of making the playoffs. Miller however is in stage 3 of the substance abuse program and one more violation will net him a one year suspension from the league.

Fantasy take: In IDP leagues Miller is currently being drafted as the 9th LB off the board in the 8th-9th round. It is time to move him down your draft board considerably with this news.
